Sport Scholarships are available at 11+ (Year 7 entry). Candidates must also satisfy the Putney High School entry requirements. Any girl accepting a scholarship will be expected to participate fully in the sporting life of the school and represent it in their chosen sport throughout their time here. Our sports scholars are positive role models, worthy sports performers and possess leadership qualities. We also have an Elite Sportswomen Programme to nurture and support able athletes.

A scholarship may be awarded for the following

  • Tennis
  • Gymnastics (artistic, floor & vault)
  • All-Rounder

Please note, to be considered for an All-rounder Scholarship we are looking for candidates who are strong in two or three or more of the school’s major sports, which are listed below:

Applying for a Sport Scholarship

To apply for a Sport Scholarship, please tick the box on the 11+ application form, indicating that you would like to apply for a Sport Scholarship. Once you have submitted your application, you will receive links to:

  • The Sport Scholarship application form
  • The Sport Scholarship Reference Form (to be completed by your nominated referee)

Applicants may also submit a portfolio of additional supporting material (including video footage of sporting performance).

All of the above forms should be completed and submitted by the application deadline of Wednesday 3 November 2021 at 12 noon.

Please note all Sport Scholarship applicants should represent a club, region, county or country or have a recognised ranking in their sport before applying.

Assessment Day

Short-listed applicants will be invited to:

  • Participate in team building exercises
  • Demonstrate a good level of fitness and ability in a range of activities. These will include activities where basic skills will be assessed, such as racket skills, ball skills, as well as some simple gymnastics movements. These activities will be carried out in the Sports Hall or on the Netball Courts
  • Bring along copies of sports certificates and medals won for sporting endeavours to show during a friendly, informal interview with a member of the PE Department
  • Those applying for a gymnastics scholarship should be prepared to perform a routine of no longer than 1.5 minutes

  • Tennis assessment: Friday 14 January
  • Gymnastics assessment: Saturday 15 January

Results: The results of the assessment will be released at the same time as the 11+ results letters.
