Chess the Right Spirit!

Achievements, Junior School, STEM

A group of eager chess players faced an exhilarating but tough day at the South of England Chess Championships last Sunday 17 November. With 400 participants and forty teams, our chess players had to have their wits about them!

Georgia was placed in the Top 3 in the U-11 section and Sohana won a rosette for her strong performance. Sophia, Y4, also won a rosette for being in the Top 3 in the U-9 section and Jiya, Y2, won a rosette in the U-7 section. Katherine, Rhea, and Beatrice also participated and it was wonderful to see the girls attending support the school and put their skills into action at the highest level.

Congratulations to all those who took part; every girl worked hard and applied their strategic thinking to reach fourth place, just one point behind the medal positions. We wish them well in the next tournament on Sunday 12 January 2020.

Thank you to Sue Lalic for all your support and dedication to our Chess Club.
