British Sign Language Lessons Begin

Community, Guests, News, Senior School, Sixth Form

Every year the good people at FOPHS (Friends of Putney High School) help us to fund an array of interesting extra-curricular opportunities.

One of these, weekly lessons in BSL (British Sign Language) began today with the sixth form taking part in a fun and fascinating first lunchtime session explaining the cultural differences between hearing and deaf cultures.

It was impressive how quickly we learnt the alphabet and could dispense with the interpreter, beginning to have our first basic conversations. We look forward to practising over the coming days ready for session #2 next week.
