Biology Challenge 2019

Achievements, Celebration, News, Senior School

A number of keen PHS students recently competed in the 2019 Biology Challenge run by the Royal Society of Biology. The competition was open to Year 9 and 10 students, consisting of two, twenty-five-minute multiple choice papers taken online under exam conditions.

Questions were based on the school curriculum, but also rewarded those students whose knowledge of the subject has been increased by reading books and magazines, watching natural history programmes, taking notice of the news for items of biological interest, and are generally aware of the UK’s natural flora and fauna.

The Biology Department would like to congratulate the following students for receiving Gold (top 5%), Silver and Bronze awards for their efforts.

Gold award winners: Alex Osborne, Naya Nwokorie Tanishka Chauhan, Maya Mohammad and Charlotte Scowen

Silver award winners: Polina Markova, Saskia Maini, Izzy Maitland, Alexandra Barnard, Iman Hafeez and Zoe Bristow

Bronze award winners: Elena Vlassova, Sofia Waas-Perumal, Sasha Worden, Erika Takeuchi, Cara Leveton, Mathilde Langseth-Hughes, Eleonora Gallenzi, Bella De Marsillac, Scarlett Patience, Anya O’Donnell and Iyla Flanagan

A large number of students also received Highly Commended and Commended awards for their level of achievement. Well done to all those students who took up the Biology Challenge in 2019.
