Bella Italia! Amalfi Coast Trip 2022

News, Senior School, Trips

Over the October half term, Italian students from Years 9 – 11 went on a five-day study trip to Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast.

The students visited Pompeii, the island of Capri with its botanical Gardens of Augustus, and Amalfi where they saw Saint Andrew’s Cathedral and the beautiful Piazza Duomo. They also visited the hilltop village of Ravello with its breath-taking views from Villa Cimbrone. The weather was particularly fine, with temperatures reaching 27 degrees.

Students were able to practise their Italian and expand their awareness of Italian culture, attending lessons at the Sant’Anna Institute. This school is a former convent overlooking the Bay of the Sorrentine Peninsula and has views of Naples, Vesuvius and Capri. They also went to a “tarantella” show and attended an ice-cream making workshop, which proved particularly popular – particularly when they got to try out their own creations.
