As part of their academic enrichment, on Friday 14 May a group of Putney’s Year 10 and Year 12 students virtually attended Royal High School Bath’s Academic Extension Conference. The talks were inspiring and covered a diverse range of topics.
The day began with Bristol University’s Dr Jonny Furze giving a practical demonstration on gases – lots of explosions as well as learning! Ben Sparks blew minds with his ‘Magical Maths’. Dr Richard Cole spoke on ‘Politics and Propaganda from Rome to Trump’; drawing parallels around themes of populism. Finally, Jennifer Scott (director of Dulwich Picture Gallery) spoke with real passion about creating art in times of crisis.
