Taking part makes a difference
Run by the parents, FOPHS is a key part of life at Putney High School. It involves all the year groups and we organise social events, fund-raising and activities for both girls and parents. The aim is to build a strong parent community, raise funds to benefit the girls and support school projects; and enjoy it all in the process!
Why FOPHS? What we have achieved in 2015-2016
Calendar of events 2016-2017
Fundraising is a big part of the work of FOPHS. It is a registered charity and we aim to raise £30,000 – £50,000 per year, with events like the Autumn Fair and Pet Show, the Christmas Fair, Quiz Night; plus extra events, like the online-auction and events for the girls – the discos are always popular!
Funds are used to provide the “extras” where it makes a difference and these vary from year to year. FOPHS has supported major development projects such as the Sixth Form Centre as well as special workshops, drama and music productions and outside speakers.
Every year group – from Reception to Year 13 – has a “rep” and “dep” who organise social events for parents to get together and get to know each other. Each Year Rep also sits on the FOPHS committee, to discuss fundraising and agree on how funds should be spent. The Headmistress, the Head of the Junior School and members of the Senior School and Junior School teaching staff also sit on the committee.
FOPHS is a great way to get to know the people in your year and across the school as a whole. We are always keen to have new people on board and it’s easy to take part in a way that suits you. We look forward to hearing from you!
