Early Years Foundation Stage

Teaching in the Early Years Foundation Stage is excellent. It is lively, imaginative and fun."
ISI Report, Autumn 2015

In this crucial, formative year the curriculum is tailored to give girls the chance to explore, play, be creative, make friends and develop a love for learning. Girls follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and are taught by highly qualified Early Years teachers, alongside specialist teachers for French, Music and PE. Girls work and play within a dedicated space which includes a well-resourced outdoor learning area. They also make use of the Junior School Art Room, Library, ICT Suite and Sports Hall.

From the moment a girl joins our school, we want to ensure that she and her family feel part of this exciting and supportive community.

Your daughter will be taught mainly by her class teacher and teaching assistant and the daily routine is flexible to give girls every opportunity to develop key skills and understanding.  develop reasoning skills, numeracy, communication, language and literacy and understanding of the world as well as physical development through PE lessons. Modern languages are taught by a specialist. Each day girls enjoy creative activities such as Art and Design and also have the benefit of specialist class music lessons with the Junior School Director of Music.
